April Showers Blog Hop!

Thanks for stopping by my day of the April Showers blog hop!
I wanted to make something scrappy so scrappy is what I did!

There is even plenty of room for a small snack. I thought it looked better with my John Deere mug :)

But... it may look cuter with my owl mug I painted....

I had a small block in my leftovers pile and didn't have anything to do with it so I added some binding to it and thought it could double as a mug rug or a cereal bowl placemat :)

I know my mug rugs aren't super creative but I have been doing super easy sewing. My husband bombarded me with the news of his job transferring. I've lived near my family all my life... Like next door to my parents on the family farm.  I'm worried. But I guess great things cant come if you are not willing to take risk right?....

Make sure you stop by all the other great blogs today too!!

Thanks for stopping in!! Vickey

  1. You must be reeling at the news of being uprooted. I can't imagine having lived one spot my whole life but then I was not given that opportunity when I was still living at home---dad is a pastor. In this economy you may have to go where the work is???

Back to mug rugs---you did a wonderful job with those bright fun colors. Love that owl mug---very "in" right now!

    1. Thank you!! This is the next step he has to take if he wants to move up in the company. I understand why we have to do it, it just doesn't make it easier. My sister and I have lunch together almost every day and I have cried through the past two lunches lol. Hopefully today will be a dry eye lunch!! She keeps saying we will be together again then she sings the song when we all get together... shes goofy!! Thanks for your comments!

(I have moved several times with my husband's transfers. Try to approach the move as an adventure that you and your husband will take together. You will find that you can grow closer when the two of you are the only family around. AND, you will always have a place to go when you need a vacation! Good luck!)

Tough to leave all the children behind and just visit now and then. But was a wonderful experience and met so many wonderful people. Wish you the best.

  70. I love your simple, scrappy rugs! We made the move from the family farm almost 13 years ago now; hasn't always been easy, but we're in a good place. Since I've found sewing and quilting over the last couple of years, that's actually made it a lot easier to not have any family nearby ... best of luck. I'll be thinking of you and praying that things work out for the best!

I have found with moving that it helps to think of it as a new adventure and to do it with your best friend. (I've been lucky that I always move with my best friend...my DH!)
