Cookie Recipe and an Epic Fail

So I purchased some adorable fabric from tops and bobbins and thought I would make a simple strip quilt. It didn't end well at all. It may not look bad from the photo but up close it definitely has some "character"! It's my little leaning tower of Pisa. :)

I decided to quilt it using straight lines... as the pictures shows they were far from straight. My husband challenged me to find a straight line one the quilt, luckily for him I was able to laugh.  The binding is also horrible, I'm not sure what happened but this quilt was supposed to be quick and cute. I told my husband not to tell anyone who made it!! lol

However, the Christmas pillowcases were a big hit! I think I will do it next year too. The little ones used them to stash their Christmas loot at the family get together!

And now for the cookies! These are always a hit. I make them for every holiday and just change the m&m color. They are a little yummy sugar cookie with a peanut m&m sitting on top. Sorry for the poor pictures.

The recipe:
Cream together 1 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 egg yolks, and vanilla to taste.
Then add: 2 cups flour and 1/2 tsp salt. The dough will be dry. Refrigerate overnight then roll into little balls.
Bake on a non greased cookie sheet at 350 for 5-7 minutes. Take out the cookies and thumb print each one.
To make icing: cream 3 tablespoons butter, 3-4 tablespoons milk, 2 cups powdered sugar, vanilla to taste.
put a little dollop of icing on each cookie and top with a peanut m&m!
